Security & Privacy
A plain-language rundown of what happens to your data on pnl.trading, no legal boilerplate.
What happens to your CSV file
When you import a broker statement, your browser reads and parses the file locally. Only the resulting structured data (symbol, dates, prices, P&L) is sent to the server and saved to your account. To keep imports reliable, the system may process a temporary, anonymized technical copy of a statement so that any import problem can be diagnosed and fixed automatically; these copies are not kept long-term and are removed automatically on a rolling basis. If you attach a CSV to a support message (e.g. to report an import problem), that attachment is handled as part of the ticket and automatically removed within 30 days of the ticket being closed.
Your account isn't anonymous, but it is isolated
Signing up needs a real email address (via Supabase Auth): this isn't an anonymous tool. Every trade, portfolio, and note is scoped to your account with row-level database security, so no other user can read your data without your own logged-in session or your explicit consent to share. The one exception is the service operator: see "Admin access" below.
Operator access is limited
Operator access is limited. Where assisting you with a support matter requires it, the operator may access relevant account data as part of keeping the service running smoothly.
Public sharing is opt-in and granular
Your data is private by default. If you turn on public sharing, only your chosen username is shown (never your email) at a link only you know, and you control which sections appear (stats, chart, portfolio, calendar, recent trades) independently, from the Account tab.
Broker sync credentials
If you set up automatic IBKR sync, your Flex Query token and query ID are stored on your account and used only to fetch your statement on your behalf. The API never sends them back to your browser, only a "configured" status.
You can delete everything, anytime
The Account tab has one-click actions to delete a single import batch, your entire trade journal, or all of your data outright, no waiting on a support request.
